What we do

Railway construction

With regard to railway construction, CO.RAC.FER. builds, renovates and maintains railway lines and connections, both on behalf of the Italian Railway Network (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, RFI) and for public and private entities. In particular, we provide the following services:

- Construction of railway lines and connections according to the most recent RFI regulations and provisions, as well as complementary work within industrial plants (private and public) and port areas, connected from the railway station to the factory.

- Maintenance of railway lines and connections: inspection, tightening of coupling elements, lubrication of junctions and sliding parts (moving parts of switches, bearings); inspection of point machines and relative linkage with lubrication; verification of the rail expansion lights as well as track gauge and switches with possible correction.

At CO.RAC.FER. we also carry out industrial construction with particular emphasis on special foundations and tracks for cranes, overhead cranes, road paving, yard water drainage, concrete items such as buffers, retaining walls, installation of railway weighing machines and much more.

Handling

At CO.RAC.FER., we offer consultation, planning and feasibility studies in the handling sector, relying on our specialized personnel and highly qualified external technicians.

We always place great attention on environmental protection as a further guarantee of our services. We act as a management body for handling railway wagons in the context of commercial ports, industrial areas and consortia. The following services are included in our service:

- Collection of railway wagons from the pickup point and delivery

- Verification of the material received and its pre-classification, inspection of cleanliness and condition of the wagons after verifying their suitability for transit and reports of any anomalies to the appropriate railway staff

- Coupling and decoupling of full and/or empty wagons, including their selection and preparation

- Movement of trains from the pick-up and delivery tracks to the connections with factories of connected companies

- Visual inspection of the condition of the wagons and related bindings (if full) when they are returned by the connected companies, with reporting of any anomalies and/or inconveniences

- Formation of outgoing trains, verification of possible closures and/or weighting of the wagons

- Coordination of service according to your operational needs and priorities in agreement with the area managers of each connected company for the need to forward wagons

- Collection and return of railway documents concerning delivery and collection of wagons

- Constant connection by means of transceivers and/or 'mobiles' with goods management and operators and connections

We provide all services with our own locomotives, relying on highly qualified personnel licensed by RFI.

Material supplies

At CO.RAC.FER., we supply the following railway materials:

- New 60 UNI, Burback, Decauville and MRS-type rails

- Used RA 36, FS 46, 50/60 UNI rails

- Simple, double and English switches of various types, new and used, complete with normal and special materials

- New and used wooden sleepers, injected with ecological Rueping system of the 7th, 5th, 2nd groups, new and used capv sleepers, as well as new and used crossbars for switches

- Small construction materials such as: slabs, sleepers, bolts, clamps, plates, CK1 bolts, etc. for all types of rail

- Normal switch boxes with square and hook mechanism

- Recessed switch boxes for switches at common grade-level sites

- Railway end buffers in concrete following an approved railway plan, as well as buffers for overhead and ground-based cranes
